How can I add my logo to the cover page&
You need your computer to be in the same WIFI net as your iPhone to do this:
- open "Settings->Fileserver" and start the server by tapping the switch
- then a URL is displayed - type this url into the address field of your webbrowser of your computer
- the displayed page is the file server area of finarX Fax on your iPhone
- open upload there
- replace the file log.png with your own version (the file is described in the following text)
logo.png:
This graphic must be a file with the name "logo.png". You can upload it with the integrated fileserver. A resolution of 595x842 pixels is required. If the resolution of the image is different the image will be scaled to fit to the page. This background graphic will be scaled onto the complete page. This allows you to freely design the cover page.
What will come in the next update?
We currently work on iPhone OS4.0 features and fixes. And after that we will integrate Pamfax and implement opening email attachments.
What is the email option good for - I can already send photos with the iPhone
Some fax service providers offer the possibility to send faxes via email with pdf attachment, for example efax. You have to register your email address for this service at efax (you have to be a customer there) and send a fax with a document to @efaxsend.com - for exact description how to please read the efax documentation on their webpage.
And other than the iPhone email application our option allows to send pictures in the full resolution.
Can I also fax documents I got as email attachments or other documents I have on my iPhone?
You can only fax documents from your camera roll (photos you have taken with your iPhone camera or you have synconized with iTunes) or photos you take with your iPhone camera within finarXFax. Apple does not allow accessing documents from other applications or somewhere else on the iPhone filesystem.
Apple does not allow us to access documents from other applications, for example PDF attachments from the email application.
So our approach to send pdf documents is to upload them to the iPhone.
How to:
Make shure that your PC and your iPhone have both WIFI connection to the same network.
Go to Settings->Fileserver and activate the "Server Switch"After some time the server is started and an URL is displayed which you should enter in your browser on your PC. Then you can upload files to the finarXFax filesystem on your iPhone.
Then on your iPhone select "Fax Document" from the main menu. There you can see the list of files (which you have uploaded) which you can send as fax.
Should I deselect "black/white automation" in the settings tab and use "gray scale image" or "unmodified color image" instead?
No. Please not! To be honest, this setting only makes sense if you want to send a document in full camera resolution via email. When used for fax a document the received fax is of bad quality and unusable.
Can I receive faxes with finarXFax?
Sorry, no. All service providers offer the option to send received faxes via email. There is no sense in implementing this feature, because the email application does this very well. Please configure this option at your service provider if needed.
